Re: Best anti-virus program ~ ?
Howdy. I initially began with NAV 05, but it is a huge CPU hog so I decided I needed to lighten things up. Got AVG which is an excellent, small, and free! Also, more importantly it detected 3 trojans more than Norton...shameful when I paid £50 for NAV...never again. I recommend AVG to anyone who hasn't already got it http://www.grisoft.com/doc/10/lng/us/tpl/tpl01?prd=sng&E1=AVG+7.1+Professional+Single+Edition&plt=win Do any of you guys use a different Anti-V? If so, Is it good ~ ie worth purchasing? Thanks Guys. ~Lethal I stick with good 'ol McAfee :)

I am finding Kaspersky quite good, only installed it a day or 3 ago as McAfee internet suite was playing up. I am also trying out Kerio personal firewall.

alien13- 03-06-2006

Yeah, i used kaspersky before its pretty good. I had a bit of trouble with McAfee, it was freezing the computer alot took over an hour to get it uninstalled. About 20 minutes of that was getting into Start>Programs>McAfee>uninstall. But that might just be me comp, heheh Im a fan of AVG though have had it for a while :)

ktulu14- 03-06-2006

Wouldn't say it was your comp, it took a while for me to get McAfee off mine and although it isn't super quick, it isn't a slouch either. It is a good AV, but i think the whole package is a bit cumbersome.

Yeah, i didnt think it was because after it was removed it went back to normal speed

As of now im usin Nod32, beats the pants off nortons all together. ive used avg and id recommend it as well, but for some reason when i install the la-*test*-('") avg my pc locks up..? ,

Adrenaline Rush- 04-15-2006

I now use Avast Pro, and scrapped mcafee (too much resources) and ahve used AVG pro as well. Both very good progs ;)

PFCdude- 04-15-2006

Yea, Avast Pro is another goodie, Ive found that Clamwin plays nice when used with other antivirus programs, well that and clamwin is only a on demand scanner but i has daily updates and great worm and trojan detection, ive used it with nod32 for about 2 months now and clamwin has saved my rear a few times already.

alien13- 04-15-2006

Is Clamwin a free proggy?

PFCdude- 04-15-2006

yes and opensource also

alien13- 04-15-2006

ahh, cool. thanks for the info, will have to try it out :)

PFCdude- 04-15-2006

no prob, also another thing too remember is that bitdefender free edition works in the same manner. i like clamwin for a secondary scanner, but ive heard several good things about bit defender. Also, is quick reply turned on? i keep getting an error when i try it.

Hmm, it should be turned on... I used it to post this one :)
